Oddly enough, I think today was my favorite day out of the 3 days of ball. Don't know why, but I had more energy today than I did in the last couple of engagements. And it is a battle of attrition.
I was told by Mikey that smaller ball on the net had its moments today--old school PG Sailor and Chief exchanges:

I think I'm done playing with shoes. My feet will just have to take the pain.
The same youngsters who took us on yesterday do so late today. Which made me think... bringing a whole team (even if you let them play 7, or 8, or as many as they can pack into their side of the pool, as we allowed yesterday) will not help them defeat the Spartans. We yield ground not at all. That plan will just lead to a long road of disappointments for them.
Find a couple of them who can be worked with, and work them into games. They can always bring their crew in at another juncture. We are very thin, and aging, on the front lines these days.
Yes, used before, but I'm trying to instruct those who don't know, and remind those who do, that this is not a perfect system. A lotta times you get this:

But, when you get your teams on the same page to do this, it's pretty freaking awesome, ain't it?

And I can tell you one thing. Once WE arrive, it will be godamn safe to surf the beach! Minus a couple of epithets and hits in the face, of course...
While the dream is always the same(!),

I find every play, and every game, to be different. I guess that's what keeps me coming out there.
And on that note I disagree with LJ. I am not comfortable with the Dream That Was Ball dying with this generation of players. If we do that, it's back to square one, and the drunkards, thumbless, floaters win. Can't have that, now, can we?
