A tile & coping truck has showed up today and there was a small swarm of worker bees with buckets buzzing about the Obstacle when I left for work today.

I think we're only entering week 3, and it already seems like an eternity

I'd like to officially lobby for the 4th of July to fall on Friday instead of Wednesday. And while I'm at it, Saturday will be renamed Chiefday.

Since the U.S. is no longer really independent, let's just do away with the July 4th holiday and declare every Monday a holiday so we can have some more time to work towards being independent again.

I checked out the obstacle this evening. The new stone looks nice. The pool has about 2" of watery filth in it. Who wants to play? Is it still water volleyball if there are just 2 inches of water? Doc? I expected the area under the deck to be like 8" deep of cigarette butts, keys and g strings....maybe they already scooped them out.

Indeed. It looks like they may be on track after all. Bricks have been replaced with stone. Most of Obstacle deck has been torn up. I lost a ring down there back in 1994 or 95. I wonder if they'll find it?

Net and poles are still sitting out at job site after being taken down, which is a good sign, and the mountings are still in place. Those damn ladders, though!

Workers are again focusing on deck today. I'm thinking we're about 2 weeks away.

Half the outer fence is down, and the Obstacle is now encircled by a orange lattice construction boundary.

I think there just might be a chance they could re-open by next weekend!

There's been a lot of rain--water level in the Obstacle is at about 3 1/2 ft!!!

Right now there is no deck, and it won't look nice for very long unless something is done about the birds. But I expect, with less trees, they will be less of a problem.

Some work of an unidentified nature was going on today poolside, but I'm guessing we're looking at maybe next weekend.

Perhaps the office has decided the sounds of hammers and saws are more harmonious and less distracting than music and cheering.

What is the new status? I have my voice back and I'm not in Maine. I could kill for some argosy ball.

Last time I saw the Obstacle, there was very little change. I doubt it will be ready for another two weeks. :(

There is progress today! Boards were actually being nailed down to start the new deck, with pneumatic nail gun, no less. Not quite as popular as the pneumatic goat launcher, of course, but still likely to expedite deck reconstruction.

So if this keeps up, I figure we're 2 weeks away. Gives the engineers out there time to come up with solutions for the ladder problem, because ladder laceration will make drain pain look like a walk in the park.

When the Obstacle re-opens, Komie & Melendez will challenge the W VA paralegals to a water volleyball match, kick their ass, and then make them link to our website.

Yesterday worker bees managed to nail about 5 boards into deck. There was another swarm of them working this am, apparently on deck. But at 5 boards per day, we have a long way to go.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I discovered I had no water this morning. Reason why was pretty easy to discover. There was a giant hole with a hose coming out of it gushing water, surrounded by construction monkeys, while one was digging furiously. They decided for some reason to remove the entire fire hydrant fixture.

This "renovation" is getting out of hand.

There were many bees buzing around the Panda habitat on Saturday morning. I suspect that the new deck could be complete. Things left to do include cleaning all the construction gook out of the deep spots and getting the pumps working again. They might also want to throw some water in it and put up a net.

From what I could tell, the days of lush tropical vegitation next to the obstacle are over. However, there could be a planter next to the hot tub - time will tell.

Chief alley has become a gated area. Probably to keep out the queers. We'll need a engineer to know the truth.

They had 5 worker bees at the pool this morning--deck should be complete soon. Here is the new Chief transportation device you speak of, that will hopefully be ready by re-opening day, which should look something like this:
