After the total collapse of the Preserve plan on Saturday and much dithering on Sunday, it was decided that we should make a run on Cityview, supposedly the Lions Den. Pandas showed up individually or in small groups between 2 and 4. When we got there, there were no lions, or tigers, or bears-oh my! Perhaps lions are afraid of the rain, since it did hit once or twice on the way down and while we were playing.

My assessment is that this is a decent venue. Bigger pool but not too big. Good for 4s or 5s. Anything less would be a stretch. Locals did not play but did not put up much of a fuss about us doing so all day. Biggest problem, as it is for most places, is the net. It was set up at about Riata height, so beware the heavy hammer of serve and spike coming down upon thee. The real problem is that the net is flimsy, so no net play, hard to adjust, and about to fall apart.

For those who either live at Cityview or play there frequently, one suggestion--buy an $11 net like we did (Academy) and spend about 20 minutes putting it up--you'll be a lot happier.

Thanks to everyone for showing up to keep ball alive during the renovations (and a wag of my finger to the missing Lionheart & co.) By day's end we had enough pandas to play 5s. Games were all pretty fun, with lots of big leads being offset by big rallies. Notable performances included the Jesi, although OJ faded down the stretch under the influence of Modello and the taunting of the Wild Boys. Wescott was shooting serves out of a cannon. We witnessed a 2 handed Bunny slam--I guess the new suit gives her the ability to go up with confidence. Ford was the master of the frontal dink (which led to the best running joke of the day), and I didn't have too bad of a day either, putting in some decent serves, blocks and spikes, especially in my last game of the day, to the chagrin of the aforementioned Wescott.

Did anyone check out Harper's Creek at the close of the day? Anyplace that has a poster with a pirate saying "Yo Ho Ho" can't be all bad, and the negative apartment reviews on line suggest we may have the dirty P gym south going on here.

This weekend: I would still like to travel to Preserve one day, and the Mirage should be safe for raiding again as well.

Nice work on the videos, Creeps

Yeah, that was a good day. I'm still not sure if my finger was badly jammed or actually broken (about halfway thru the afternoon), so for now I've just taped and splinted it.

Do we have to add you to the OJ injury list, or did it happen some other way?

low net = high risk. We'll blame it on OJ
