Newssplash: we have an AAR today. Labor Day aka Neighbor day(some people are probably already asking who is neighbor?) used to be packed. Now it’s one pool no waiting. And some of you are not heeding Kenny’s warning about the winding down of the season. So things change. You know what doesn’t change? Watervolleyball is the most fun you can have with your short pants on. And short court options means who no longer have to worry about the age old attendance killing question that should not be asked and can’t be answered: “who is gonna be there?” As long as 4 players show up, there will be game. So if you show up, there will be game. sometimes things change in a good way. We are perfecting the short court technology. Looks like 3-4 and 4s is gonna be back line set up 3 bricks from the back line. 2s court will be either 5-6 bricks from the net. Still a work in progress. And I know how much panda hate change, but try the short court game. It’s going to teach you accuracy, teamwork and how to cover ground that 6s often does not. And besides, Dallas is gonna start doing it, which makes it cool by definition. Don’t you want to be like Dallas? Just pretend you’re playing short court ball at a mansion. Opinions vary on how to do your lineups in 3s and 4s. I do it old school. What is that? Come out and see. So at long last let’s get to today’s games. Dans plus Chief came out of the gate strong against Kenny Jarrod Ram, and looked like they were on their way to a Danysty even when Breylin joined the other side, but a big lead was blown. Erin joined Chief Dans and we were doing pretty good again with a W, then struggled again in game 2. Eventually teams were mixing and matching (which is our way) with regularity such that no Dynasties or Danystys happened today. Amber/Slamber/Wonder Woman/woman of mass destruction joined in with her considerable skills, as did former ROTY Joe. Omar played a couple of games but never quite got dialed in. Hip hip Jorge I think was the last to arrive, but not last in praise. He scored a lotta points on serve. Erin also had a good serving day. Be aware that “girls get 2” house rule. Unless they don’t want it. But it is an option. In terms of total coverage and in support of accuracy of narration, it’s somewhat rare that I get 7 points hung on me, but that happened off of old Creepy Dan’s serve. https://youtu.be/jIIoW7_FVGo?si=LOpQLZTMVGadZdSV I blame myself. 5s is full court play. Usually 3 front and 2 back. If your back row is getting beat, as I got beat over and over again, front row should come off the net a little. Doesn’t change much, but it does look different to the server and cuts off a little bit of court back row has to cover. I was told LJ was there today. But I never saw him. If anyone finds him courtside, please store him in the lost and found woodshed. And last but not least, the question every panda is no doubt asking: will there be game tomorrow? Of course there will. At 2 means 2. Who’s gonna be there? That question thou shalt not ask. Will there be meatballs? That’s a question you can ask. I’m told the answer is yes.
