Rainy Sunday AAR. Yes, there is one!

Thank you for all those who braved the rain to show up. Sad that some people waited in vain for more players, and left without playing.

That’s an all too predictable outcome when sekrit ball happens.

So we had 8, which dropped to 6, then 5.

Not gonna happen today? Wrong. Ball will find a way. Or I will.

Because dammit, I don’t show up and not play. And neither should other pandas have to go through that sad experience.

So, since short loud and bossy is part of the job description as point guard, I rallied the available players. We will find a way to play.

But the pool is too large for 3 on 3. Is it? Turns out you can cut the court to almost any size you want to. All it takes is another 2 ropes. So 4 total. Just use the little tables to anchor the ropes across the back.

So behold, a playable court for less players that enhances placement skills. I dare say this new technology could even be implemented to play sekrit 2s.

So here come your starting lineups for long delayed games: me, Dan, Kallie vs Erin, Reno, Ram. Best of 3.

On my team, Kallie scored most of the points on serve in the game we won. Dan managed to pound a spike on the short court. Didn’t even need to hit a wall or a line to get it in!

Ram had some amazing saves on the team that won the challenge.

Ram and Kallie are players of the day.

So I now understand why sekrit ball happens early. No way they could handle the level of adaptation, improvisation, and butterscotch ripple that the afternoon crew came up with to make ball happen with less than 12 players.

Turns out you can cut the court size at will with 2 ropes and play with as few as 4 players.

Because it is generally better to play than not to play. Those who did had fun. And now there’s a way to do it reliably with less than 12 players.

You can thank the intrepid non sekrit players for coming up with this amazing discovery, sekritly or otherwise.
