4th AAR. I can’t write about what I didn’t see. And I didn’t see our MVP but I know he was there. I can write about what I heard, which was no photo featuring MVP in early ball today. Based on experience I can write about what I sense, which is anger(ht Tbone) or maybe he’s just saving himself for the tournament. I didn’t get a photo today either, but others did. Congrats. Those who took them should share with the group. I also want to thank the sekrit sanders who stayed on, some of them for the whole day today. Tbones rule #1 can be a reward in and of itself. 4th has traditionally been a hard day to manage, but good work was done on that. When I showed up Marcelo made sure a group of new guys got their game. I played with them. We got one point. In what should be another familiar chiefism, the water game looks easier than it is. Props to the pandas in an adjunct—it looks easy because we make it look easy : ) And that’s why consistency is the name of our game. For all intents and purposes, AWVP has always been here, and will always be here. Because if we’re not, my secret fear is that we will miss some diamond in the rough like we discovered today—McKenzie. Played college ball. She had great skills for her first time in water. McKenny (see what I did there, punisher?) immediately made her his setter. Where we sometimes falter when new good people show up is spreading Ballchair’s gospel. I try not to, and didn’t today. If we see our new potential rising star again, she expressed interest in being added to our messenger list. Along those lines, I intend to show up tomorrow to see if there is intelligent life at the obstacle post 4th. I will send a scouting report. Hopefully others will join. And now, a tale from 4ths past, in the more freewheeling (pun #2, wait for it) days of the league. 4th was logically a good day to drink a snoot full of Nattys, take a snootful of up drugs(as was my style at the time) then sally forth on pool safaris, to places that were known to have pools with nets. Because 4th is gonna be a day of maximum attendance so maybe there are some players out there. If not, the traveling merry pranksters will play on the court and move on. Riata was our last stop. It had been raining, so our wheel man managed to put the mystery machine on 2 wheels taking the turn into the exclusive resort community. Oops. No worries though. No natties were spilled in that maneuver. I don’t mind being a bella figura, so I walked in with Chief robe, thigh high white go go boots, and a red sash I turned into a headband. And… we beat everyone Riata could throw at us. Then drove back to the Argosy rebel base at 100mph. True story. AWVP. We are legend. |
