Pandas made it out, eventually. Imagine my complete surprise when I made it to the pool before Kenny or Tbone. Eventually the roster included Alex Tbone Kenny Monkey Scully Dan T2 (briefly) Scott/Walrus, Taz, Woodcock Miami Joe, and yours truly.

So it's one pool no waiting. Then why wait???

Here's what I'm getting at. Down time is only down time if you're sitting around. Yours truly got in and got the feel of the net, which was noticeably lower than last time I played at the Obstacle. Not sure how that happened, but I expect a Dan conspiracy to make Austin more like Dallas. Although length of breaks seems to be something Safety Squad does not want to make more like Dallas.

Practicing on the low net before games began helped, I think.

This is for the new people--listen to Coach Ford! What are you doing sitting around waiting for games to start when you should be in the pool before games begin practicing and developing your skills? You're wasting time you could be using to get a better feel for things. Because what you do out there needs to become second nature--body rhythm.

The goal is to make the right decisions and make it look easy. It's not. So get in and practice.

Also, what's up with half-assed Saturdays? This was better than last time, but a little lacksadaisy (lack sad daisy) for late season contests. That wouldn't fly in Dallas...

Back to the positives. Taz the 1 armed bandit. Kudos for effort with only left in play. I can't even serve the ball over with my right.

Speaking of serves, OMG, Kenny Rogers found one. He brings the heat.

Barely played with the Walrus. He had some good mighty hits--minus the one that I dug.

And tipsy Miami had Scott's number on a number of occasions--wait 2 days to call!

Mixed day for Dan--good plays, and then inexplicable plays--strike that, reverse it. Enough to have a winning record, though, which is all that matters in LJ metrics.

Scully, king of tight sets. Gotta get the flow of the game back. And then I got to front middle and caught the disease as well!

That was the game we lost 15-0, Scully and Woodcock captains. Made the one switch--Scully front mid, me to back mid, and took the best of 3! Way to shake the disease!

Understand me... this is late season ball. I'm gonna play serious, I'm gonna play hard. And I expect everyone else to do the same.

Case in point--5 on 5 in what turned out to be the last game* to 21. Up 13-6, and then Walrus gets on the other team. New Alex 5 beat the 6 in what turned out to be a tough battle. Kenny will want me to say we got bonus Kenny that game, but his team still lost : )

*I would've played another game. But I was in the pool, waiting... and Safety Squad did what Safety Squad does. Delay, delay delay. So everyone else wanders off. It is what it is....

Thank you btw, those who Chief game appreciated today. I noticed the net difference right away, and took to it to advantage. Joe Joe noticed I do a little better when I'm not the shrub who gets no sun in a forest of tall trees.

One more day to go this weekend. And Double Chief birthday only one weekend away. I'll say this for both Chiefs:

You doubt? Come and see!

Addendum: we had a fan handing out MVPs for games today. Not sure if she quite understood the goal was to get the ball in the pool, and get more points than the other team. Because she kept handing out MVPs to people who either lost the game or their team lost! Recipients included Dan (the incredible Huk), Taz, and "the Green Guy" (Walrus).

Maybe I missed the meta irony here...
