I was blessed by Ballchair to play with many teams today. Dynastied with Scott the Walrus, who was just flat out unstoppable early. Also on that team were Marcelo, Scully, Monkey, Jarrod.

But then the Walrus literally crapped out. And what a shame, because that left me with Team 6ft Under, meaning we were height challenged. Still won 2/3, before getting slaughtered on dynasty game. Scully continues to impress.

Sander Joey was present, but mostly underutilized today. Thankfully, since I was on the other side of him all day. New York let his hit flag fly a few times today. More of that:

We did a pretty good job of getting the new guys in to play. Better than usual. Gronk complained that beating 2 teams you're way better than on paper shouldn't count as a dynasty. Interestingly enough, we have a solution to that, that has been implemented on super busy days like 4th of July (which is coming up btw). Sit your winning team, let 2 new teams play, and play the winner of that. Saves you one game--red shirt dynasty! But that takes discipline. Not there yet.

Now we come to what might be my most, and least favorite game of the day. I've got a Shimmy, Kenny, Jarrod, Miami, and Scully, I think (sorry, it all blends together). Went up 5-0 off first serves. Stayed up big. And then, everything started to go wrong.

That's when it's time for someone to put the team on their shoulders and carry them the rest of the way. This is very dangerous, because sometimes it means you do too much. But you can't be afraid to step up in the clutch, whichever way it goes.

It's been a while since I've called my number for props on an AAR. So for posterity, let me tell you what was going through my mind in that game: I'm frustrated. No one is doing anything. Ball don't hit water, that's #1, I'm old, short, can't jump real high. I'm supposed to look to other players to make the big plays, but I've gotta do something:

Refuse to lose. Try to set an example. That was the motivation in the next game I played with the new guys. I get it, foregone conclusion. Except for when it isn't. Stacked team almost let that one get away from them. Almost--15-12, I think?

I wish more of you would fight just as hard with the new guys as you do against them. Or deign to fight with them at all.
