Look around, look around... It's that time again. Summer is coming, and the League is getting ready.

We've all taken the oath of the ball watch. It's an amalgam of the wisdom we've collected over the years.

Dry people play. Everyone relax, no one's in trouble. Rule #1, have fun. Focus, not fuckus.

Weaving that all together into a tapestry of brotherhood over all these years takes work. From all of us.

Some of that work began again today.

After current events, I was hesitant to return to the court. But once I got there, the doubt melted away. Ball is about ball, and not what's going on in the so called real world. That's what makes it special, and important.

We are all there for a common purpose, and from that, comes strength.

So let's start at the start. Some people are just coming out and trying to learn the ropes. That takes courage. And it's a long learning curve. Goes like this: you're going to screw up. You're going to get picked on. Over and over again. Do you like that? No? Then learn to play, so you don't get picked on. Your team is here to help you. Your goal is to not be "that guy" who messes up in the clutch. Advice is to play as much as you can to get the trigger time early in the season. It just gets tougher from here.

Notable plays: Scully on the stuff--solid block on Javi, if memory serves, or swerves, given the time of this post.

Teaching Marcelo bad habits. After missing a spike, he told the other team, "Next time, watch the face!" because he's coming for you...

Player-coach Ford was born again hard. Good hits, exhibiting clean play, teaching others how to do the same.

Solid play from our usual suspects--Javi, Jess, Scott. Dan also was cutting angle on his hits like a surgeon.

Just remember, it's also a game of movement, and spacing, and placing:

Lastly, something on the "new look" from yours truly. I can SEE for the first time in many years.

On the plus side, vision might improve my game. On the downside, it wipes away all excuses!

You are a wonderful group of polymorphous and perverse Pandas. Ballchair bless all of you!

Summer is coming. Be ready. It's always a fun and competitive ride.
