There's nothing like driving home racing the setting sun, hammered and sore, but victorious.

As we are at the end of the season, I think just about everyone played every game today. Some new people tried--some of them got it, some of them didn't. Again, we make it look easy, but it isn't. I'll never get tired of the biggest new guy in the pool saying, with some surprise, "You're good." Yeah, appearances can be deceiving:

Thanks for fighting today, my little buttercup opponents. I sense a theme coming on...

So we get to the end of the day:

It's starting to get cold for me, 5 hours of battle, hard to keep fighting, when we switch movies, and go to Middle Earth--the Eagles!

Sorry, wrong movie: the Birds!

Dub, Tbone, Navy, Monkey, yours truly vs. Mikey, Jess, Scott, Woodcock (the only real bird in the pool), and T2. T2 and the cock are fresh. Birds were down big in the first game: 5-0. That's a lot in a BBG. Then the war cry sounded:

Like the Little Teams that Could and the Nerds before them, the dirty dirty Birds built a team identity, and that becomes a psychological advantage. Comeback wins in games 1 and 2.

Mad props to Tbone and Monkey down the stretch. They really stepped up.

Prior to that, I sure hope Dub likes getting set around 25 times a game, because that was what was happening. Taz also had a good day of swat, and got a game of opportunities lining up to my left--I'm better passing left. Scottie and Mikey also had big hits. Joe Ball had some great serves and contributed to some wins on a 3 point guard team with me and Navy. Don't hit your head again on those fall away serves, Joe!

My game, as usual started slow and awkward. With time and liquid skill, gets better, and with the help of a good team, hung in there til the end.

Tax called for the birds, they descended upon him! I doubt anyone is going to dispute that today's word is Bird!

Tbone reminds me of Col Kilgore:

Nothing phases him. No fear.

Argosy was more like this:

And for our new friends in Houston, who opened the puzzle box:

I wonder what Sunday will bring?
