Even though Tbone looks a little bit like Lou, the vibe is the best I've ever seen at the exclusive resort community.

The concept of "them," and "us" or "us" and "them" (que Pink Floyd) is changing, and with it, the definition of "scrubs" Note to experienced players--not everyone who didn't train with us is a scrub. To think so is to do yourself the disservice of overconfidence. And it can be a killer.

Just seeing who is on the other side of the net does not decide games. That's why we play em. And several times today, there were surprises.

I started out the day by "taking the hit" and quietly shifting over to a team with somewhat lesser skills to balance things out, because I knew none of you other elitist bastards would do it. And me, Tbone, Joe, big Mike, and Ryan almost won that game.

Many times today I had to play from way down on the scoreboard. Once at 13-3. I don't care for that. There was some lazy play today. Attorney Scott, I'm looking at you... not your normal dominant self.

I'd rather be ahead, so I don't have to give that speech! Except that I can do it for you! I'd just rather be leading from the opening bell to the end. Far less stressful. Although "game of inches" is always operative. I still remember one hotly contested game that went 16-14 where I got a pinky on a ball before taller opponent Hairy Jason slammed the shit out of it, causing him to miss.

And the game abhors a vacuum, so while Scott was sleeping, Dub woke up from a 2 week slumber, and a scary awesome thing it was to see. 6-7 straight kills from the left front of the good side in one game, and that was not all. Did you know he had a change up serve in his back pocket? Change up on this day is when he jumps over the whole front line. If he didn't already have a nickname, he'd be Jefferson:

How many times have I told you not to wake him up?

Except for the one time that Lil Goliath stuffed his stuff.

The Sheriff also thinks he can hit everything. Not so much. Unless you have a wrap shot or a fall away in your repertoire, under the net set is a no go, especially with your power windup. I got a belated.... "FU, Chief" for saying so from the sidelines. Which means I'm doing my job, on the court, and off.

Please note, undersized out there does not mean handicapped, or tarded. Jared's friend Jim had a couple of nice hits and a couple of blocks (no shit) on the front line. Needs to work on his fielding, though. TWO HANDS.

Speaking of consistency, Attorney Kent had some amazing Power of Attorney plays, but also some not so good ones. Perhaps he is T2s real dad?

"Riata" Ryan learned how to hit big on about 3-4 plays today. Well done. Next time do it when you're playing on my team. He is also about the only player outside of Dan who goes both ways with his serve--meaning he can hit with either hand.

"Super Teams" did not fare all that well today, although we had a couple of 3 in a row wins out there. I lost on one in a tight game to 21--the sun side is a bit of a bitch.

As we entered 2nd and 3rd quarter of the day, teams became more competitive, and some players who have been quiet of late got to shine--here's a shout out:

A little tentative on the swings in the beginning, because he hasn't been the go-to hitter in a while. And tentative ain't such a bad thing, because none of them were out (something to think about on occasion, master blasters, you know who you are), but picked up as the day went on.

There are some new guys out there who don't suck. I'm working on getting them into the lineup so that we can all learn to play together. In return, I often get to play on their teams when they are shirted and short of players. For those of you who are used to being entitled, you might want to try it some time. It's mostly better than sitting.

In the Shirt Nazi's absence (even Misty was willing to work with me on some slack), everyone did a pretty good job of following the rules. At one point a squad got in because the winning team went AWOL, and a game commenced. When they came back, with only a little bit of explanation, the interlopers got out. Well done, people.

Without help from Dan, I've determined Taz was abducted by aliens as a child and experimented on in Jamaica before being returned to Husker land. The evidence is obvious--this man speaks Blahkaneze as well:

There were many, many more moments on this day, so others should feel free to fill in the gaps.

New guys are learning. I warned you they don't all suck. Does it really take the score getting tied or getting behind to figure that out?

As the teller of the tale, my turn now...

I don't want to go on the cart:

When not having to worry about getting in Jess' way, I went nuts in the middle on a few games--pulled a lotta saves. Dub's kills make the headlines, but there ain't no hit if the ball is quit. For reasons that are quite obvious, my best play is done below the net. Did rip a few serves though.

Let me introduce myself:

Tomorrow is another day. And everyone can be a god out there for 5 minutes. Welcome to Fight Club...

And if you find yourself with the sun in your face, it means you're on the bad side, and probably already dead!

I was there for that battle. Tough one...
