Several of the people in this picture played well--that would be Jess, Dan, and Ford. Undefeated, if memory serves.

In contrast, I played what might be mercifully described as an average game. Which means I lost. A lot.

Moral of the story, Pandas: average just ain't good enough when it comes time for the BBGs. And below average will just get you flat out killed:

Chlorine, pee, and bad decisions--nice speech, Chief! That's what WW is all about!

Also of note, albeit in losing efforts, Dwayne was making good 1 handed sets. Whodathunkit?

Official line of the day: henceforth, in honor of Tbone, Labor Day at the Riata will be known as Neighbor Day!

Also, for the first time evar! Neighbor is talking about carrying on games up there on WW for as long as it stays hot enough.

I ask myself, is our children learning? I think so!

For those of you that won, enjoy your victories. I'm licking my wounds, and will be back to fight again, you magnificent bastards.

That is all

thanks to ford, jess and creepy for that nonstop beatdown. feels good, real good!

i don't know what it takes to get people to react faster. creeps has 5 shots in one game in the same spot and no one could figure it out. i tried to setup the next rotation to counteract the creeps dink. thats just sad. a dan dink terrorizing the WW poolscape

Well, that's where size (of the venue) does matter. Those were some pretty dinky dinks, which would force middle or side guy to either start playing nose to ass with the front line (leaving a dangerous hole middle or deep middle), or flex like a mofo while the set is still in the air, which runs a similar, if lesser, risk.

Depends on who is playing the back row, no doubt. I spent most of the day in time in the back row worrying about getting beat deep, which means I got beat short. In the middle I was cheating short to one side or the other, but clearly not enough...

But if shit's droppin a foot or two behind your front row, that's just good placement, and damn hard to deal with at a place like Riata. Here's a thought: rather than put the onus on back or middle, let's have some shifting on the front--man on Creeps goes up, guy next to him shifts behind, and middle man comes up to watch for the dink to the flexer's spot (which is a much lower percentage shot anyway)--alternatively, whole front line shifts and middle man fills the far side spot on whatever side he/she was cheating to--make sense?

One group of guys in Dallas plays 3-2-1 instead of 3-1-2. The back middle guy has to cover a lot, but it's doable.

More of this please!

I love game film. We will discuss these submissions in their entirety later. Just one question--in the first video, a couple of minutes in--why are some servers serving from the back wall, as God intended, while the early ones in the video are not?

As time passes, it appears they all do it. Were they instructed?

Also, gotta love the arguing!

More later!

Also, looks like a Deerfield net, in that play is very zippy, and servers don't appear to have to adjust much.

But I shouldn't surmise until Ive seen all 3...

Most importantly, within our core group of Pandas, there are still 2 or 3 or 4 or 6 or more, that can take on any infidel defilers who dare to field a team against us, and make them pay!

a 3-2-1 would get face raped by argossy trained players IMO. we are deep corner ball sexperts both on spikes and overs.

I've seen those guys beat all kinds of teams. It would be a fun matchup. They do a pretty good job of not touching the net, too. And communicating when a ball is headed for an open spot to cut down on two people watching it drop or getting in each other's way.
