Post subject:  Opening weekend
We played Saturday and Sunday, with good turnout both days. Still cold, but not as cold as some starting events--I still remember a certain January 1st...

We have been promised new recruits this year. Julio says there are 2 more Argosy denizens interested in participating, which is good, since I hear we lose Chief Cricket in May.

David's friend John showed up for the first day, and Spoons brought a couple of guys who didn't suck on Sunday.

This is good, as we field many seasoned players, which is another way of saying WE ARE OLD.

Speaking of old, the olds beat the whipper snappers pretty easily in 4 on 4 Saturday play.

I also hear Dub is returning to the starting lineup this year, which should allow a team to challenge the Young Bloods at long last. They were all present on Saturday, but somehow I don't think the game ever went down...

Play all around was good. Attorney Scott wins defensive player for his Sunday performance--he was a defensive wall. This could be due to his new training regimen, which includes weight loss (isn't the opposite supposed to happen in the off season?). Jess's serves continue to confound. There were good hits and blocks aplenty.

With a little tape, I was able to return to the lineup. The wrist still pops but it doesn't hurt, and we were fo sho playing full contact this weekend. BTW, beware the net--it is scratching people up like the brick walls used to! Also, we already managed to tear a whole in it (looking at you, Wescott), and it's starting to sag, so ideas on fixes or new nets (I say bring out the steel topped model that is already in storage) are being accepted.

Best season's start ever. A big hand to all who played.
