On a lovely, beautiful Saturday afternoon, four young men ventured into the Holy Waters of the once proud and prestigious Argosy. Argosy proudly featured some of most crafted and exciting talent in water volley ball, and included a “special guest ball boy”. While rumors of the water being “too cold” were greatly exaggerated, the four men took to the obstacle. Game one featured The Dan Batrick Show v. WildNewChief. Needless to say, it took most of the match to knock off the months of rust that had formed. On that note, Dan took his time off from playing, to grow a firm, sturdy, thick mustache… that seemed to hinder his drinking ability. WildNewChief won the first match, with pin-point serving and overall great team attitude. The second match featured Red Jims v. Danwild. Again with WBJess’s leadership the Danwild prevailed. We had a third match, WildBack v. LSUiscreepy. Veteran play and the new version of flexbone, helped WildBack coast to a victory. If I haven’t mentioned, we were graced by Coach Scott as a ball boy… scared to entered the Holy Waters… but brave enough to watch! The last game was a rematch of the first… the game came down to the wire. The Dan Batrick Show down 12-9 rallied behind a man and his mustache. Creepy moved his creepy feet and erected his palms out to go on a 6-0 tear to hand WBJess his first loss on the day. Julio came down later and stated that he wished that he had known that we were playing. That happens to be kind of ironic, because other Argosy residents knew ball was going down, and refused to play, not only that, refused to communicate with anyone. Under the New Chief, Argosy’s power will be a force to reckon with this summer. For years the Argosy has consistently produced some of the most gifted and talented players in Austin and for the matter the Northern Hemisphere. Later that night the New Chief received a text, “Thanks for hosting today”… I simply looked at him and said, “Thanks for not hating”! Moral of the story; fuck with the best.
