It's a good thing that most of you can't read, or follow directions because yesterday turned out to be a pretty darn entertaining WW.
Attendees included Dub, Creepy, Ford, Wild Boys, Will (lawnmower), LJ, Jason, resident Sean. We even had a Dwayne sighting!
Dub Will Creepy LJ came out of the gate strong vs. Wild Ford Chief. Maybe some folks like to dig themselves a hole at the start of games, but I'm not one of them. In the second matchup of these squads, we had to fight back from a 1-7 start to win. Don't you think it's better to start off with a lead and peel off a couple of points here and there when necessary to win, rather than being forced to play flawlessly due to lackadaisical play in the first few minutes? And the other part of why there weren't more wins for this speed team--flawless and flex both start with the letter "f" but that is pretty much the limit of the relationship between the two.
Individual play throughout the day was pretty strong. The Creep show had the Wild dialed on some serves, Dub's cross court hit was wicked fast, Will's hitting and fielding percentages are up this year, defense remains solid, and he even threw a couple heater serves out there, Ford's swing makes him King Kong on the Obstacle, Wild Boys provided their usual showtime. Yours truly? Block on Will, block on Jess, a spike that froze the opposition in disbelief, and a nice set off a joust I lost to Creep, among other sets amidst the rediscovery of my point guard special purpose.
Games toward the end of the day featured the unlikely duos of Dwayne T2 vs. Hairy Jess. I was told that the former beat the latter twice before losing once.
You even managed to pack it in on time, with some gentle reminders. Good show.
