Gettin' colder, so not much time left, especially for what will soon be evening ball on the weekdays.

Good turnout--Tattoo, Will, Nick, Marty, Jim Back, Creepy, Jess, Attorney Scott, LJ, Pants, and me

I still don't like playing freezer 5s, but there were some marathon games. I participated in at least 3 OT games (gotta win by 2, so moving beyond 15, for the neophytes out there), and there were a couple more that went to 20.

Highlights--Tattoo got his nose bloodied by a JB spike. First time in 16 years I've seen a volleyball cause that. May it be added that his sacrifice was rewarded with pointage on that play as we captured the rally. The signature "Chief" ball has now gained in value, since it has been sanctified by the blood of a panda.

A holy orb indeed. I had a field day--2 blocks vs Jim Back, ace serves to the left, right and middle all in a row, calling down plays then executing, a couple of spikes, with a couple fakey set dink shots thrown in for good measure. And I lost that game, and went about 2-4 on the day. Well, my stats look good, and "Leon can't do everything"

Lowlights--anything the Lip touched. Nick zipped him early in game 1 with a block and he was unable to face the shame of trying to hit against his fierce net presence again.

Things went downhill from there. I can't decide exactly how to describe flappin Lip's suck symphony on this day, so I'll let you, gentle reader, choose your favorite:

LJ is like a child wandering into the middle of a movie--no frame of reference.

LJ: The New Navy/"Out on LJ!"

Lip 08: Older & colder & starting to molder

A neophyte is a beginner. In the context of Christianity, the term often refers to a newly ordained priest, a person who recently took a monastic vow, or a new convert to the religion.

In the Catholic and Orthodox Churches an adult convert is considered a neophyte for one year after conversion. Roman Catholic neophytes are considered full members of the Church, but may not act as sponsors for others planning to join.

In ecology, a neophyte is a plant species recently introduced to an area (in contrast to an archaeophyte, a long-established introduced species).

I didn't know Greg Peppers had a PhD. Should we call him Dr. Peppers?
