I can never figure this out. Every year, after you have all been using your barbaric yawps to yell to the heavens (that don't care, btw) regarding what badasses you are, you suddenly get quiet, when given your greatest opportunity to pipe up about your greatness, party, and lobby.

I'm sick of this crap. Get to fighting/awarding or get away.

It continues to confound me that people who are so vociferous in the court about what baaadd mofos they are, and about what the league should be, rather than what it is, forget to show up for the awards ceremony,

ROLLCALL!

Why Gerald, I thought you were dead...

No worries, the same has been said about me.

So, on the roll call, we have one (formerly) dead man and a (purported) has been.

Tis a bright outlook for the ceremony, and 2015, say I!

Cheesy old movie reference, eh, Pandas? Chief is a poopy head, and you like cheese. Well, cheese is not on the table. There is no cheese!

What do you fight for?

The offer in this league is a tin can, or nothing. And you choose nothing??

Nihilists, are you? At least I have an ethos...

Here is the rough draft of the 2014 player list.

Some of these people may not have played this year, and there are no doubt others that aren't on the list yet.

Rookies are indicated. So far I can only think of one. Not sure if Pippen and Skully (sp?) are rookies.

I have two dates in mind for the Awards Ceremony:

Saturday February 21 or Saturday February 28.

I've finished editing all the Ilume videos. There are 6 games and an intro video. This will be on one DVD.

Now I'm working on this year's Riata footage. This will be the other DVD.

My house repairs are done, if I'm still in the running for hosting. The dates put forward would work for me.

In terms of the list, you forgot "little" TJ. Also, what is the name of the young guy with the Boston accent (I thought he was Bruce's kid!), and the cute little brunette he associated with?

Also missing, Katie, I think. She played more than once and picked a couple of teams, if memory serves.

Wow, we're awfully short on rookies this year (and I think Javi played last year), which means we are not recruiting properly.

Well, that's talk for the ceremony. In the parlance of one of my favorite old West characters, "Say when."

There will be a magic show, and Chaplain Chiefie (my alter ego, now that I'm anointed) will no doubt tell you how the free pandas will conquer Scrubbism:

And, now, wherever we fight, the spirit of ancient Argosy, now fallen but not forgotten, accompanies us.

We will share our culture, and people will understand.

But how will we share our culture if we have no community? For without a community, the culture will surely die.

Well, I can't be sure, but that might be what one of my personalities will say.

Why not come to the ceremony and find out?

I admire, and resemble The Dream of our own place to play ball, for the Knights of the Rectangular Pool. Where the game goes on as long as we want it to, and same for the after party.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGzqbEeVWhs

It's not like I didn't try. First house I looked at had the acreage. Couldn't close it, and there were problems with the property (foundation), which means pool and house would've cracked.

Maybe, just maybe, someone in our coterie will build a pool. And if they build it, we will come. But who will come, and who will be invited?

Absolute pool power corrupts and degrades absolutely. See Big Horse, and Apocalypse Arkansas. Too soon to tell whether Darth Nowell and his Dallas Sith Lords are headed down that dark road as well. We haven't actually played there yet.

My point is, someone finally builds a pool in their back yard. Argosy style, please, so that 2s is back in vogue(!). What then? We who are initiated fight eachother until the end of time? Where does the new blood come from? Given that the average age of starters is now more than a bit above 30, I don't think building a pool solves our problem.

Unless you want the built pool to be an old folks home, and eventually our grave, you have to recruit. How do you recruit if you play at a private residence? Because, outside of Jared, and Ford with Scully, I haven't seen anyone prothletizing and being tolerant enough to invite those who have heard the "good news" about watervolleyball into our beloved corps.

Thus, even if a magic pool were built, I would still feel obligated to split my time between the magic and recruiting elsewhere:

And we seem to be having problems even getting our own to show up for league business!

I can'tread your video post, Lip.

What I can say is I look like crap on game film more often than not, like a little hobbit amidst the tall trees.

Thanks for the award nonetheless.

Every year the opposition seems to get taller, younger, and faster, while I stay the same age.

Dangerfield's best moment.

We all know the "no respect" thing. That's why we have an awards ceremony. It both validates and invalidates the comedy, every year.

I also resemble the evil professor when it comes to watervolleyball, for both vets and new disciples:

"I only have one question for you--IN 67 PARTS!"

But with the help of the TV machine (Walking Dead), I can boil it down to 3:

How many Scrubs have you killed?
How many Pandas have you killed?
Why?

Post subject:

One correction Sir:

How many Buoys have you killed?!?

Wescott's invented term should always be used for individuals.

Now, there are scrub teams tho.

Author:  Chief [ Thu Mar 05, 2015 10:13 pm ]
Post subject:

I stand correced, Lippy.

Buoy is indeed the term from elder lore. And I thought I was the historian here! Although, I remember the term being attributed to one mighty sailing man, with my contribution being that they shoud be made to wear bells on their heads as a warnining, since they were hazards to navigation.

Scrub is indeed the newer term, and often used in plural--scrubs, like "walkers" or "herd". The latter term best applies to the 4th of July in The Balling Dead.

Did Argosy most resemble Woodbury, the prison or Terminus? Should I wear an eye patch or a sheriff's hat?

Can't wait for the next episode!
