Pandas,

The council meeting this weekend was predictably dysfunctional. I have managed to discuss this event with attorney Scott, Jared, and most importantly, Ronin Steve. He will be our emissary and is truly the founder of the feast I hope will come this summer. He should be thanked accordingly for helping to put this together.

We have an invite. All we have to do is take it. Then play well. I recommend 8 players on the roster, rather than our previous 5. I consider this to be a serious challenge, most serious one we've faced yet, that should be treated accordingly.

It's a private residence.

Nowell mentioned the July 4th weekend.

That's pretty soon, but maybe we can do it.

It looks like 4-5 is the number of the counting, but, as an away team, I'd like to show with more.

Let's think Panda inclusive rather than exclusive, until told differently by our generous hosts.

Ideally, I'd like to hit the residence and the country club they play at, in order to scratch both targets.

Invite, check. More info would be useful, but is not exactly necessary. All we're left with is the decision fish, which is a tricky little bastard, especially where Pandas are involved.

Feel free to disagree. This road trip is worth doing. We've been waiting for a challenge like this forever. Which means it is worth doing well. How well can we do it? That depends on all of you...

again, i would like to go. my time will be more constrained than others so i am a bit afraid of nominating when is good/bad for me. i am under a terrible work schedule this summer, i am traveling and i have family coming in from cyprus to try and see too. the family issues i believe is on the 4th of july weekend, so who knows for me.

i nominate to just make it so. and hopefully i can make it up when that event is happening. i would liek to know more intelligent life in the universe. if these guys are good and have their own setup, then yes, i would like to develop good strong relations. exchange ideas, establish trade routes and create teh flow of ball commerce. i am excite.

I think that we should put our heads together and figure out when we can do this. A challenging task, I realize. Since college boy is our best player, excuse me...second best player, behind Jess, I'd really like you to go. Chief is calling for a council meeting.

I'd be out the 4th, but might be able to leave early enough to go up on the 5th. Also, I might already be going up the following week to help my dad after surgery. He may find out tomorrow when that is for sure.

Here's a few videos of some of those guys:

If the country club is the Village in Dallas, that place can be a clusterf*** but I know of a couple other places. I'll try to track down one of the guys from those so there's backup plan.

Here's the main pool at the Village:

Country club--another Ilume style Colusseum. Do they have what I'd call creative control?

If so, don't bother me none.

i am confused on the venue. the pic dan posted and steve posted look radically different?

the venue is crucial. i don't want to travel to a riata style situation. a more private venue would be incredible if true

The last time I saw Nowell's guys, they were playing Village on Saturdays and at one of their houses on Sundays (probably where the photo Dan posted was taken).

The YouTube videos I took were also at the Village, but not at the club pool. One of the residents pulled a move similar to what got us bounced from Mirage here in Austin, so some of the guys started going to the big pool. It can be a looong wait once you lose, so once that happened I drove 20 minutes up to Plano to end the day at another place called Water's Edge.

I haven't been able to track my contact from the Plano pool down yet, so I don't know if it's still an option. Keith and I had to coach them up, but they didn't mind when we brought in some good players. They sometimes got pretty trashed by the end of the day. The management didn't seem to give a damn about it, so that was a plus.

Of course we will focus on the private residence play. I wouldn't mind killing the other one too is all I was sayin.

On the last picture. Dammit! If there's one thing I hate, it's a neglected net. Why is that thing not high and tight?

My spider senses indicate this trip will happen. The question will be the when, and the who...

Gotta have a council meeting. I see agreement on that as well.

OK, since having one at ball failed, how about a post-ball council meeting?

I will offer up the Chief mansion, which is more or less on the way home for just about everyone. For those for which this is not true, they can attend by speaker phone. Why not do it this weekend?

Alternative ideas of course are encouraged.

Yes, I remember these videos. Reminds me of Deer--with servers able to serve downhill because of a low net.

So one of the questions we will be asking on dimensions is also net height. It's not like this will be only an advantage for one side.

The venue(s) will be what they will be. And as visitors, when in Rome...

I see some skill out there, so let's do it.

Council meeting Saturday after ball at Chief's!

I think we should battle at the private residence. Not too interested in going to a huge scene where we have to wait to play.

I would however like to go back to the Ilume for some games if we can work that in. I know they want us to return. Ilume could be pretty crowded now that it's the summer, but it's likely that Steven can accommodate us and we can get in a few good games.

Post subject:

I second Dan's motion. I very much enjoyed Ilume enthusiasm, and I think we owe it to them to attend again. Ideally, this is planned as a 2 day event.

That being said, we owe it to ourselves to fight Dallas's best of the best, and Ilume does have a heated pool, so they will have an extended season. And perhaps our presence could unite the two groups up there--one established, the other working hard to be so? I will certainly lobby for that.

But A#1 is to get up there, and we haven't managed to do that yet.

Escape from Austin first priority, say I:

Yes ball travel, also in a similar boat as the swarthy college boy in regards to getting away. Keep me in the loop as to when this transpires.

Here we go again. We will go to war with the army we have. I hope algorhythms will not be involved to find out when the maximum number of Pandas will be available before the Dallas Riffs season runs out, because I was told there would be no math.

Recommendation--Dan, let's watch the video Ronin Steve has made available about how these guys play. Pandas will be assembled. Therefore, we should talk not only about how we get up there, but how we approach the game when we arrive.

College football Saturdays will begin on August 30th.

NFL week 1 is Sunday September 7th.

The water is only going to get colder from here on out.

If we are going to do this in 2014, we need to do it soon.

Looks like our only options are August 9th, 16th, or 23rd.
